What the interview looks like

  • An Advisory Appointments Committee (AAC): the medical director, the clinical director, a Royal College representative, a lay chair and usually a consultant colleague, HR and a service manager

  • Forty five to sixty minutes of structured questions, often after a short presentation on a title you are given in advance

  • Expect your CV, why this trust, what you bring, equality and inclusion, a serious incident or mistake, teaching and research, governance and system questions, scored against the person specification

  • Answers are judged on specifics from your own practice: what you did, the outcome, and what you would do differently
